چکیده
Bir bölgeyi ele geçirerek oraya derinlemesine nüfuz edebilmenin en ideal yolu demiryolları inşa etmekten geçer. Alman ekonomisi ve diplomasisi, 1903 yılında imzalanan Bağdat Demiryolu anlaşması ile doğu politikasındaki ilk ciddi büyük başarısını elde etmiştir. Bu sayede, Almanya dönemin taşımacılıkta hızlı ulaşım ağına hakim olarak, batı ticaretini elinde bulunduran İngiltere’nin egemenliğini kırmış olacaktı. çalışmada, demiryolu projesinin 2400 kilometrelik Konya-Bağdat-Basra hattı üzerinde yer alan Mardin hattının günümüz il sınırı dikkate alınmak suretiyle, Mardin’in Gürpınar mahalli projenin Anadolu doğudaki son istasyonu olan Nusaybin arasındaki demiryolunun süreci, milli mücadele dönemindeki işlevi güzergah istasyon durak noktalarının günümüzdeki faal durumu alınıp değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın ekler kısmına, olunan köprüler binalarının halleri şematik planları, hattın krokisi projeye dair bazı harita fotoğraflar ilave edilmiştir.
